A tree statue of Former Buffalo Bills running back Thurman Thomas was stolen during a tailgating on Sunday.

While OU officials have tried to limit the use of alcohol on campus, one school is running in the opposite direction.

The University of Rhode Island has lifted a ban on alcohol during gamedays that has been enforced since the mid 1990s.

But the new policy only allows individuals to consume alcohol is designated areas, and students can not bring their own alcohol to the tailgates.

"Most campuses don't view tailgating as contributing to any of the problems associated with over consumption of alcohol," David M. Dooley, president of the university said. "In fact it can help model responsible behavior around the consumption of alcohol."

The university is expected to see an increase of tailgaters in the ongoing football season.
